Visayas lawmakers seek probe on brownouts, power reserves charges
Manila, Sept. 8 -- Visayan lawmakers, led by House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez, are seeking probes into recurring outages and the cost and delivery of power reserves in the region.
As this developed, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) again issued red and yellow alerts on Tuesday due to insufficient power supply in the Visayas grid, resulting in rotational brownouts in Negros, Panay, and the rest of the region over the past four months.
