Manila, Oct. 23 -- The Visayas and Mindanao power grids remained under alert status on Friday as electricity supply continued to be affected by the unavailability of several power plants, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

The NGCP issued advisories on the power situation in both grids, citing limited generating capacity and outages affecting power plants.

In the Visayas, the shortage of available power supply was attributed to the unavailability of major coal-fired power plants and limited electricity imports from Mindanao.

The Mindanao grid also faced supply constraints due to power plant outages, affecting the amount of electricity available to meet consumer demand.
