Manila, March 22 -- University of Santo Tomas (UST) marched to the finals of the UAAP Season 88 tennis tournament after edging reigning champion National University (NU), 3-2, Sunday in their do-or-die semifinal duel at Colegio San Agustin in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

Steven Sonsona and Al Zayeed Baid clinched the tie for UST, beating Angil Balaoing and Isaac Lim, 7-5, 6-3, in the second doubles match.

NU raced to a 2-0 lead after Alexis Acabo defeated Evan Bacalso, 6-4, 6-0, and Andrei Padao downed Ericjay Tangub, 6-2, 6-4.

But Christopher Sonsona conquered Jules Lazaro, 6-2, 6-4, and the pair of Richard Bautista and Nash Agustines prevailed over Christian Padilla and Miguel Vicencio, 6-0, 6-4, to tie.
