Manila, Oct. 29 -- Sen. Raffy Tulfo on Wednesday called for mandatory comprehensive insurance coverage for buses, taxis and other public utility vehicles (PUVs) to ensure that accident victims are compensated not only for injuries but also for damage to their property.

During the Senate Committee on Public Services hearing, Tulfo questioned the adequacy of existing insurance requirements, citing complaints from motorists who struggled to secure compensation after their vehicles were damaged in accidents involving public transportation.

"I want all buses, all public transportation, meron silang dapat (they should have) comprehensive insurance, especially buses," Tulfo said.
