Manila, March 9 -- The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will cause rains over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA, located 1,470 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 2 a.m., has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
However, its trough will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms across the Visayas, Mindanao, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Moderate to heavy rains could result in flash floods or landslides.
