Manila, May 25 -- Scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast across Mindanao and Palawan due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said on Monday.

Moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The LPA, located 1,515 km. east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 2 a.m., has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will prevail over the Bicol Region and Quezon.
