ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 15 -- Tausug runner Khalid Arakan ruled the 10-kilometer male category of the 1st Ganarul fun run over the weekend, part of the pre-anniversary celebrations of the 1102nd Infantry "Ganarul" Brigade's seventh founding anniversary on June 20.

Arakan clocked 39 minutes and 17 seconds to lead more than 600 runners from various municipalities in Sulu and neighboring areas in the race held at Camp AKA in Barangay Bual, Luuk, Sulu.

A respiratory therapist at Maimbung District Hospital, Arakan regularly participates in races. He placed fifth out of 248 runners in the 21-kilometer Milo Marathon in Zamboanga City on Oct. 19, 2025.
