Manila, July 1 -- Sen. Bam Aquino is seeking the immediate passage of a wider School Safety Act that will go beyond bullying, as violent incidents and reports of students bringing deadly weapons to school raise fresh concerns over campus security.

Aquino, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, said on Wednesday his proposed measure was initially meant to strengthen anti-bullying policies but has since been expanded to cover other forms of violence, school security, emergency preparedness and emerging threats involving students.
