Manila, May 4 -- The Supreme Court (SC) has directed Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III to answer the petition for indirect contempt filed for his comments in connection with the high tribunal's ruling on a suit questioning the 2025 impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

"The resolution (directing the filing of a comment) was sent to the respondent (Sotto) on May 4, 2026. Pursuant to the Resolution, the respondent must submit the comment within ten days from receipt of notice, or by May 14, 2026," SC Spokesperson lawyer Camille Sue Mae Ting confirmed in a message to reporters.
