Manila, Sept. 25 -- The Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) announced on Friday that it was named 2nd runner up in the Infra Innovator Award at The Manila Times Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities Awards 2026, held at The Manila Hotel on Sept. 24.

The Infra Innovator Award is one of 15 categories in the annual program, which recognizes local government units (LGUs) for notable initiatives in addressing community needs and preparing their cities and municipalities for future development.

This year's awards emphasized sustainable, accountable, and responsible local governance, with infrastructure identified as a key area in evaluating LGU performance.
