Manila, Sept. 26 -- The Philippines will push for internal regional peace and stability, and adherence to rule of law in the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Defense Ministerial Meeting (ADMM), Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said on Saturday.

The country is set to chair the dialogue, which will gather defense chiefs from ASEAN member states in Cebu in October.

"The Philippine position has always been made known in all ADMMs. But of course, in a leader's statement, it will be a matter of consensus. Basically naman, it's upholding UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea), international law and for internal peace and stability inside ASEAN," Teodoro said in a news forum in Quezon City.
