Remulla: 911 raises expectations for faster police, fire response
Manila, Sept. 9 -- Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Wednesday the nationwide rollout of the Unified 911 emergency response system is raising expectations for faster police and fire services, requiring the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to strengthen their response capabilities.
"People should expect more. They should not expect less from their police and the BFP," Remulla said during the turnover of 20 emergency response motorcycles to Iloilo City and Aklan.
The Honda PCX160 motorcycles will be deployed to tourist police units of the Iloilo City Police and Aklan's Provincial Police to improve response times, particularly in areas with narrow roads and streets.
