Manila, June 16 -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Tuesday warned the public against individuals who falsely claim to be BSP officers or personnel to solicit donations or obtain personal information.

"The BSP does not solicit donations or any form of monetary contribution from the public," the BSP said in a statement.

The central bank advised the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any communication or document purportedly issued by or associated with the BSP.

The BSP said any suspicious or illegal activity should be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities for investigation and proper action.

This is the second warning issued by the BSP in weeks.
