Manila, July 8 -- The defense cannot use unrelated controversies involving the House of Representatives to cast doubt on the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, the House prosecution panel said, stressing that the case must be decided on specific allegations and official evidence.

"What I'm trying to say is that we also have to compartmentalize the issue and not to use this as a general narrative to cast doubts on the integrity of the institution, the integrity of the process by which we have seen from the start of the confirmation hearings of the Justice Committee up to the time that we are now at the Senate discussing these matters, the Articles of Impeachment in an open court," Lanao del Sur Rep.
