Manila, April 1 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed a specialized team to investigate the case of an 11-year-old girl from Camarines Sur who appealed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for protection against an alleged abusive village official.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the Women and Children's Protection Center (WCPC) is handling the case and gathering evidence to determine possible charges.

"Following the President's directive, we immediately deployed a specialized team from the WCPC to ensure the safety of the child," Nartatez said in a statement Wednesday.
