Manila, March 24 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday expressed readiness to assist the crisis committee being set up by the national government to respond to the adverse effects of the Middle East conflict in the country.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday ordered the creation of a crisis committee to address the impact of rising fuel prices resulting from the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

"We are ready to provide support in case our services are tapped by the crisis committee. Our resources and assets are ready to be deployed once the need arises," PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.
