PNP heightens readiness amid Typhoon Saudel public safety threat
Manila, Aug. 24 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has alerted its offices and units nationwide as Typhoon Saudel and other weather disturbances threaten to bring more rain and possible flooding in the coming days.
In a statement on Monday, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., directed local police units to closely monitor the movement and development of Saudel.
He also ordered them to coordinate with local government units on the possible implementation of preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas.
"As we monitor the track and development, we are coordinating with local government units in case there's a need to implement preemptive evacuation to ensure the safety of residents," Nartatez said.
