Manila, Sept. 21 -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday welcomed the latest MICHELIN Guide recognition of Philippine hotels, with two properties earning Two MICHELIN Keys and four receiving their first One MICHELIN Key.

El Nido Resorts Lagen Island in Palawan and Raffles Makati made history as the first Philippine hotels to earn Two MICHELIN Keys, signifying an "exceptional stay."

The MICHELIN Guide recognized El Nido Resorts Lagen Island for its setting in a forested cove framed by limestone cliffs, use of Filipino materials and craftsmanship, and environmentally sound practices.
