Manila, Aug. 3 -- The Philippines maintained its "Doing Better" status in the 2026 Doing Good Index (DGI), ranking second in Southeast Asia after Singapore in terms of the enabling environment for philanthropy.

The Association of Foundations (AF) said in a statement Monday that the Philippines was among only five Asian economies classified as "Doing Better," along with China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.

Singapore was the only economy in the region rated "Doing Excellent."

The DGI findings were complemented by the World Giving Report (WGR) 2026, which showed that 78 percent of Filipinos donated in 2025, reflecting the country's strong culture of bayanihan.
