Manila, June 17 -- The Philippines, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), on Wednesday welcomed the peace deal reached between the United States and Iran, and expressed hopes for the eventual permanent cessation to hostilities in the region.

In a statement, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Analyn Ratonel commended the "constructive role" played by Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and other partners in advancing dialogue and promoting peace between the two states.

"The conflict has exacted economic and humanitarian toll, resulting in the loss of lives and damage to civilian infrastructure and disruptions to the global economy," she said.
