Manila, Sept. 23 -- Government retirees will gain access to the Government Service Insurance System's (GSIS) solar financing program beginning Sept. 30, one of the expanded benefits being highlighted as the pension fund marks National Pensioners' Week.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said qualified pensioners may borrow up to PHP500,000 under the Ginhawa Solar Energy Loan (GSEL) to purchase and install residential solar energy systems.

The loan is payable for up to five years at 5 percent annual interest with no service fee, with applications to be filed through the GSIS Touch mobile application.
