Manila, March 18 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to deploy about 17,000 personnel across the country as part of the government's "Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2026" that seeks to ensure the safety and security of domestic passengers from March 28 until April 5.

In a message to reporters, PCG press officer Joy Gumatay said the deployment is the same number as last year's and will focus on maritime safety and security.

"Naka-focus sa ports, waterways, and nautical highways ang mga PCG personnel. Sa kalsada at lupa naman naka-focus ang mga pulis (PCG personnel will focus on ports, waterways, and nautical highways, while the police will focus on roads and land)," Gumatay said.
