PCG-5 logs 4.6K passengers, inspects 40 vessels for back-to-school
Legazpi City, June 8 -- The Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol (PCG-5) recorded more than 4,600 port passengers from midnight to 6 a.m. Monday as part of the "Biyaheng Ayos: Balik Eskwela" program.
PCG-5 commander Commodore Ivan Roldan said monitoring and inspections in various ports will continue until June 11.
"With the opening of School Year 2026-2027, the Coast Guard District Bicol has intensified its operations to ensure the safe and smooth travel of students, teachers, parents and other passengers throughout the region," he said in an interview.
The PCG monitored 2,049 outbound passengers and 2,604 inbound passengers across all ports in Bicol.
