Manila, July 10 -- A total of 789 passengers are stranded in 58 ports nationwide as bad weather caused by Typhoon Inday (international name Bavi) and the enhanced southwest monsoon halted maritime travel on Friday.

In an advisory, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said these passengers include truck drivers and cargo helpers of 249 rolling cargoes.

Thirteen vessels and 33 motor bancas were stranded in various ports, while 158 vessels and 145 motor bancas were taking shelter.

Most of the stranded passengers were in the Southern Tagalog region, with 271 passengers and 23 rolling cargoes in the ports of Real, Jomalig, Dinahican, Panukulan, Lucena, Alabat, Roxas, Pola, Romblon, San Agustin, Looc, Batangas, Bauan, Balayan, Tingloy, Lemery, ...
