Manila, June 20 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has underscored the need to further strengthen Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - Russia relations by expanding cooperation in emerging sectors with significant untapped potential.

In an interview with Russia Today following his participation at the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Marcos said the partnership between the regional bloc and Moscow has developed over the past three decades but has yet to reach its full potential.

"In terms of ASEAN, it has steadily developed, but not at a particularly high rate. Although there are exceptions within the member states of ASEAN, where some countries have gone further than other countries," Marcos said.
