ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 16 -- The city government received PHP15 million in financial assistance from the Office of the President on Monday afternoon for families affected by the June 8 Mindanao earthquake.

In a statement Tuesday, Mayor Khymer Olaso said the financial assistance was released after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. unveiled a multi-million aid recovery package for quake-hit areas in Mindanao during a high-level briefing in General Santos City.

General Santos City and Sarangani province were the hardest-hit areas when the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck parts of the island region.
