Manila, July 13 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the immediate technical assessment of Culiat Bridge II along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City after a fire damaged the structure on Saturday night, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In a social media post late Sunday, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency will carry out temporary repairs on portions of the bridge where the asphalt pavement had lifted due to the intense heat.

The DPWH also conducted clearing operations in coordination with the Quezon City government to remove debris and secure the area.
