Manila, Aug. 20 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Thursday that additional pumping stations will be installed in Metro Manila to help manage excess water and mitigate flooding in the capital region.

Marcos made the statement following his inspection of the Tripa de Gallina Pumping Station in Pasay City, where he checked the facility's operations.

He said the government is targeting the completion of the additional pumping stations by the end of 2026 or early 2027, noting that most of the facilities should already be in place.

He said the facilities are necessary as the country continues to experience heavy rainfall.
