Manila, Aug. 21 -- Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula appealed to the faithful to pay more attention to the youth, who may have problems that go unnoticed by those around them.

In his message of solidarity released Friday, he noted the importance of listening to and understanding the situation of the youth as some of may be silently battling sadness, anxiety, hopelessness, family issues, bullying and academic pressure.

"We need to listen to them, not only when they speak loudly, but especially when they suffer quietly," the Cardinal said.

"We need to create spaces where they can speak without fear of judgment, seek help without shame, and know that they are valued and loved."
