MALASIQUI, Aug. 12 -- Governor Ramon Guico III on Wednesday said that flood gates and water impounding structures were among the measures proposed to address flooding on the Capitol grounds in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

These are on top of the ongoing construction of the drainage system as part of the Capitol complex redevelopment program, he said in an interview.

"We are building a drainage system and placing flood gates. In case of high tide, the gates will be closed, and we will build an open water impounding and a cistern and a pumping station," he said.

Guico said the goal is to allow floodwaters to recede in less than an hour and normalize activities in the area amid heavy rainfall.
