Manila, Sept. 10 -- Malacanang on Thursday ordered the adoption of alternative work and learning arrangements in Metro Manila and 13 other provinces in view of persistent rains and its cumulative effects.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, by authority of the President, signed Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 135, following the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) amid continued heavy rainfall brought by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the cumulative effects of prolonged rains.

MC No. 135 covers the National Capital Region, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.
