PAGASA warns low-lying areas as La Mesa Dam exceeds overflow level
Manila, Aug. 29 -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday warned low-lying areas in Metro Manila as the water level of the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City has breached overflow elevation.
As of 2 p.m., the dam's water level has reached 80.22 meters, exceeding its 80.15-meter overflow elevation, PAGASA said.
"Excess floodwaters from La Mesa Dam will flow directly into the Tullahan River," it said.
PAGASA said affected areas include Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas cities; Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria and San Bartolome in Quezon City; and North Expressway and La Huerta Subdivision in Valenzuela City.
