Manila, May 19 -- In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to provide assistance to the public transport sector, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed over PHP7.3 billion in cash relief assistance to more than 1.4 million public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers nationwide.

In a radio interview Tuesday, DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the Department remains committed to fulfilling payouts for all registered and legitimate drivers included in the validated lists submitted by the Transport Network Companies (TNCs).

She also reported that the payout for jeepney and tricycle drivers outside the National Capital Region is still ongoing.
