Manila, Sept. 23 -- Authorities have recovered about PHP14 million worth of smuggled cigarettes found abandoned along the shore of this city, officials said Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Elmer Ragay, director of the Police Regional Office - Zamboanga Peninsula, said personnel of the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force "Seaborne" Company recovered the contraband in Sitio Stanvac, Barangay Campo Islam on Tuesday.

"Authorities received information regarding suspected smuggled cigarettes along the shoreline of Stanvac," Ragay said in a statement.

"The information was confirmed, resulting in the recovery of abandoned suspected smuggled cigarettes and a motorboat believed to be associated with the contraband."
