P105-M cash-for-work budget set for Ilocos Region workers, farmers
MALASIQUI, June 4 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 1 (Ilocos Region) has allotted PHP105 million for fisherfolk, farmers, and transport sector workers affected by the oil price hike, an official said Thursday.
DOLE-1 information officer Jenny Mapile said the allocation covers 11,100 farmer beneficiaries, 773 fisherfolk, and 1,435 transport sector workers.
The assistance will be provided through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) cash-for-work program, which offers displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers 10 to 30 days of temporary community work at the highest prevailing regional minimum wage.
