Manila, Aug. 21 -- Senator JV Ejercito is pushing for the passage of a measure seeking to grant an additional PHP10,000 to the basic monthly salary of public school teachers, regardless of their length of service.

In a news release Friday, Ejercito said Senate Bill No. 335 or Dagdag Suweldo Para sa mga Guro (Additional Pay for Teachers) Act seeks to recognize the important role of teachers in educating Filipino children while addressing the financial challenges they face.

"Being a teacher is not easy. They bear a heavy responsibility, yet often make significant sacrifices to fulfill their duties. That is why it is time for us to better show our appreciation for them through a salary increase," Ejercito said.
