Manila, Aug. 5 -- A total of 9,198 families affected by Super Typhoon Uwan in Paracale, Camarines Norte, started receiving financial assistance of PHP50.1 million from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program to help them recover from the disaster.

In an interview on Wednesday, Claudio Villareal, chief of the Disaster Response and Management Division of DSWD Bicol, said the payout is scheduled within the month, with a total of 8,890 families classified as slightly affected receiving PHP5,287 each, while 308 severely affected families will receive PHP10,263 each.
