Manila, May 17 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Sunday that a total of 45,522 transport network and delivery drivers in Metro Manila have received PHP5,000 each in cash assistance during the latest round of special payouts.

In a statement, DSWD spokesperson Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao said the department's special payout for Transport Network Company (TNC) drivers proceeded smoothly, with Grab, JoyRide and inDrive drivers getting cash aid.

Dumlao said total disbursements reached PHP227.61 million under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
