Manila, Oct. 30 -- With former conflict areas now being transformed into bustling centers of growth and prosperity, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento called on the business community to invest in Mindanao.

"As Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, and as a former mayor, I have learned one important lesson: Peace creates opportunities for investment. Investment creates jobs, transforms communities, and helps make peace last," Sarmiento said in a speech Wednesday, on the second day of the Mindanao Development Forum (MDF) 2026 titled "Investing in Peace, Building Prosperity: Mindanao's Moment Has Come" in Davao City.
