Manila, April 20 -- The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on Monday said it continues to prioritize the welfare of workers in determining wage adjustments amid the ongoing energy emergency.

The commission, which is under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), issued the statement following misleading edited videos and posts on social media.

It said the circulation of edited videos and posts from a recent joint committee hearing gave the "erroneous" impression that there is no basis for minimum wage adjustments in the context of rising fuel prices.

"This interpretation is incorrect and does not reflect the Commission's position," it said.
