Manila, May 26 -- The National Food Authority (NFA) on Tuesday said its rice milling activities have been intensified to support local palay (unhusked rice) farmers in Soccsksargen.

The grains agency collaborated with rice millers for the intensified milling initiative under the emergency procurement program.

In a statement, NFA administrator Larry Lacson said at least 1,100 palay farmers in Central Mindanao are expected to be supported under the emergency procurement milling initiative.

"This is more than just a procurement exercise. Every bag of palay we move out of our warehouses means another farmer we can help and another family assured that their harvest has value," he said.
