Manila, Feb. 25 -- Four out of the 18 reported members of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), who claimed to be aides of fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co and bagmen to ranking government officials were never part of the service while majority of them had been dishonorably discharged, the Philippine Navy (PN) said Wednesday.

"Based on official records, (four) were never members of the PN or the Philippine Marine Corps (a type unit under the Navy). Majority of the individuals were discharged dishonorably from the service, while others were able to retire in good standing," Navy spokesperson Capt. Marissa Martinez said in a message to the Philippine News Agency.
