Manila, May 13 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday warned the public against multiple applications for voter registration.

"You must only register once. This registration is permanent. Registering more than once is an election offense and is punishable by law," the poll body said in a social media post.

At the same time, it reminded Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters or those who will be reaching 18 years old need not register anew as regular voters.

"If you have previously registered for the SK, there is no need to register again," said the Comelec.

Meanwhile those who have been deactivated for failure to vote in two successive poll exercises, it noted that they don't need to register again.
