More cops to be deployed in crowded areas as 'ber' months start
Manila, Sept. 2 -- Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. on Wednesday directed police units nationwide to step up their presence and patrols in areas expected to draw larger crowds as the country transitions into the "ber" months signaling the start of the long Christmas season.
The public is expected to start shopping, traveling and holding gatherings with friends and family, and other holiday activities with the ushering in of the 'ber' months on Sept. 1.
