Manila, Sept. 26 -- Filipino-American Mary Joyce Monton is set to compete in the women elite race of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, Canada on Sunday (PH time).

The 29-year-old cyclist, based in Los Angeles, is the reigning PhilCycling National Championships champion. She was also the individual time trial and criterium gold medalist two years ago.

"I'm excited about racing in the world championships, but it would be a difficult race with the world's elite racing," Monton said in a news release on Saturday.

Her participation in Montreal is supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission.
