Marines in Senate standoff negative for gunpowder
Manila, May 26 -- The Philippine Navy (PN) announced the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) personnel detailed at the Senate Building, Pasay City during the May 13 shooting incident tested negative for gunpowder residue, its spokesperson said on Tuesday.
"We could say confidently that the Marines were not directly part of that incident and they were negative on their paraffin (test),' PN spokesperson Captain Marissa Martinez said in an interview with reporters.
The PMC is one of the two major units of the PN, with the other one being the Philippine Fleet.
Paraffin test is a method used to detect gunshot residue on a person's hands by investigators.
