Manila, March 10 -- The city governments of Marikina and Makati will implement a four-day workweek to conserve energy and reduce fuel use amid rising global oil prices caused by the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Under Executive Order (EO) No. 05, Series of 2026, signed by Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro, the new work schedule of city government offices will be from Monday to Thursday at 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In a statement Monday, Teodoro said the new schedule, effective March 9, will enable employees to complete their 40-hour workweek while helping reduce electricity consumption.

"Through the four-day workweek, we are contributing to the national effort to conserve energy," Teodoro said.
