Manila, Sept. 1 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday officially welcomed Nigerian Ambassador-designate Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas in Malacanang, pushing to further strengthen Philippine-Nigerian relations as the two countries prepare to mark 65 years of diplomatic ties in 2027.

Marcos received Ibas' credentials during a ceremony at the Palace, where the envoy was accorded official welcome honors.

Ibas' presentation of credentials formally marks the start of his diplomatic assignment in the Philippines.

Following the presentation, Marcos and Ibas met to discuss the continued deepening of bilateral relations.
