Manila, Aug. 12 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Philippine National Police (PNP) is "on its right track" toward regaining public trust, citing lower crime rates and new operational capabilities, while stressing that public perception is as important as statistics.

Speaking during the 124th Police Service Anniversary celebration in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Marcos said the latest data showed that crime incidence from June 2024 to June 2025 decreased compared with the preceding period.

"But we recognize that numbers alone cannot allay the fears of our people," Marcos said.
