Manila, April 12 -- The capital city of Manila urged the public to wear face masks when going out due to poor air quality.
The city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) issued an advisory based on the "fair" Air Quality Index recorded at Anda Circle (Intramuros), San Sebastian Residences (Quiapo) and Santa Ana Hospital at 5 p.m. Saturday
The result showed "unhealthy for sensitive groups" air level under the Hinga (Breathe) Manila Program.
The DRRMD urged the public to exercise caution, limit prolonged outdoor stays when not necessary, and wear face masks as a precaution against the adverse effects of polluted air.
